Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Technician to support the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of construction and industrial equipment. This role may be based in a shop environment, in the field, or a combination of both, depending on operational needs. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, a diagnostic mindset, and hands-on experience working with heavy equipment systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues on heavy equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and scheduled service
  • Repair and replace components including engines, pumps, valves, hoses, and electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures using diagnostic tools and service documentation
  • Perform shop-based repairs and/or respond to field service calls as required
  • Maintain accurate service records and communicate repair status clearly
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
  • Work independently while coordinating with service managers and team members

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician, Diesel Technician, or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Proven diagnostic and troubleshooting ability
  • Experience working on construction or industrial equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, or similar machinery
  • Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information
  • Valid drivers license; ability to operate equipment safely

Preferred Qualifications

  • Rental fleet, construction, or industrial equipment background
  • Field service experience
  • Manufacturer certifications or formal technical training

Work Environment

  • May include shop-based work, outdoor job sites, or field service routes
  • Physical requirements include lifting, bending, standing, and working around heavy machinery
